On April 11, 2022, Dwane Henning, Sound Christian Academy benefactor, community contributor and board member passed away at his home in Lakewood, WA. Mr. Henning served on the Board of Directors for six years, including two as the Chair before transitioning into the Ex-Officio Chair role. 

In memory of Dwane’s many contributions, including his participation in the rebranding process and staunch support of the transition of from Tacoma Baptist Schools to Sound Christian Academy, the school’s annual golf tournament has been named in his honor. 

Born in Lithgow, New South Whales, Australia, on April 30, 1950, Dwane is survived by his wife Abby, five children, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  The Henning’s shared deep Christian convictions as members of the Evangelical Reformed Church in Tacoma.  As long-time business owners of Future Homes of Bremerton, they loved helping people’s home buying dreams come true. 

The SCA community deeply misses Dwane.  We are blessed- and proud- that the family has permitted us to honor his legacy in this way. 

The 2024 Dwane Henning Memorial Classic will be held at Oakbrook Golf Club
